The PTS Collector - a simple to use indicator for all skill levels
|
A key advantage of the Collector is its inherent ease of use, making it ideal for both beginners and experienced traders.
Signals trend changes on the crossing of zero and warns of a change in trend direction, measures overbought and oversold conditions
Stacks up "evidence" when used in multiple settings frames which highlight those hidden patterns that are not easily found (See video clip below)
The PTS Collector is available now for
NinjaTrader 8
-
MultiCharts 64
-
Tradestation. Payment buttons lower down this page
The TradingView version is under development.
Below the slower
settings highlight a major trend shift crossing zero |
Faster setting

The two images above show the
simplest method to deploy the PTS Collector in
identification of major trends when crossing above or below
zero.
For this long term trends lengths of 25-40 (lower plot
dark blue) are good with
the summation values set at 50-70 which keep a count of the
market state for you.
Two or three versions can be
plotted simultaneously to keep a track of the minor trend,
intermediate trend and major trends.
The PTS
Collector is one of the components used in the construction
of the Demand Index 30 Path Estimator - It comes free if you
purchase that product.
------
The PTS Collector often has a
strange ability to find hidden overbought and oversold
levels when used with faster settings.
Once applied to a chart just
modify the settings until you find a
resistance level where all the peaks and troughts come at the same
Collector values.
The chart below is Gold futures on
a daily time frame. Collector is set to Length 5, Summation
30. Instantly a clear level at 22-24 is seen as resistance.
For the purpose of
clarification, one must decide where the best natural level
is as it is not an exact science. Support buying is found
(below) often at -25 on this setting.
On different
markets and in real-time data these levels will vary and it
is good practice to experiment and test to see where they
are and what settings perform best.

|
The PTS Collector can give early warnings
of a change in trend ( when used on markets that trend well in
the slower settings )
With Length 25 and Summation set to
80 the focus is shifted to strength of uptrends and downtrends
shown in the chart below.
The centre left red line shows
the Collector was previously locked at 80 the maximum for this
setting and then fell to 20 as the market made a new high....
Something is clearly changing in the dynamics of the trend!
The Collector warns that the long term uptrend is about to FAIL
Confirmation of the uptrend end coming to an end is on the
2nd red line when the Collector crossed below zero
After slowly falling to -80, prior to the last blue line
you can see the Collector warning the down trend is coming to an
end..
Remember using this in this manner is best applied
to markets with a natural tendency to trend well.

The Collector
stores information on trend durations |
The Collector
has many uses - best when more than one length is used |
|
|
Crossing zero denotes a trend change |
When both are
locked at maximum it often signals a top |
The Collector is a
semi oscillator which is user configuable. It often finds then
ends of trends after they have spend a large amount of bars
travelling.
You can adjust its lengths and summation
values, it is good practice to use it in two or three settings
plotted together to see the depth of its readings
The Collector comes free included if
you purchase the
Demand Index 30 Path Estimator
as it is one of the components it uses.
